1 Samuel 15:22 says obedience is better than sacrifice, which refers to God explaining that he rather have the obedience of his people than their burnt offerings. However, if you allow me to put it in a present-day tense, obeying the instructions of your parents or persons of authority is better than trying to offer a gift to overshadow your wrongdoing. God knows we won't always get it right, which is why he provides us with grace, but we should still have a desire to be obedient. When you are obedient to God, he will do miraculous things in your life.
